Waiting on Wednesday (8): Time Between Us

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating. Visit Breaking The Spine to see more entries!

This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:
Time Between Us by Tamara Ireland Stone
Release Date: October 9th 2012 by Hyperion
 Format: Hardcover

Goodreads Summary:
Anna and Bennett were never supposed to meet: she lives in 1995 Chicago and he lives in 2012 San Francisco. But Bennett’s unique ability to travel through time and space brings him into Anna’s life, and with him, a new world of adventure and possibility.

As their relationship deepens, they face the reality that time might knock Bennett back where he belongs, even as a devastating crisis throws everything they believe into question. Against a ticking clock, Anna and Bennett are forced to ask themselves how far they can push the bounds of fate—and what consequences they can bear in order to stay together.

Fresh, exciting, and deeply romantic, TIME BETWEEN US is a stunning and spellbinding debut from an extraordinary new talent in YA fiction.

Reasons I want to read & own this book:
1. Time traveling romance? I'm in! Totally reminds me of films like: The Time Traveler's Wife and The Lakehouse where you have characters from different decades who meet and fall in love with each other because of some unique form of time traveling. It just leaves you wondering if the time travel in the story and romance will develop in such a way that it seems realistic to the reader. Also, with time travel you get to see each of the characters take/perspective on the era (time frame) that the other character is from and I love it!
2. The title of the book. Time Between Us. Is very clever in many ways, why? because it alludes to the fact that there is a distance in time between the characters and that time separates them and that the time between them is special since they don't know if the time traveling will work well. Of course, that last one is an assumption on my behalf from what I've seen is a very prominent dilemma in time traveling stories.
3. The cover. I love it. It's very lovely and luminous. And, I think it's a bit fore-shadowy of what can happen in the story to be honest since the guy in the picture is kinda faded in the background, very far apart from whom I assume is the female lead in the book. Also, the girl in the cover has her arms crossed and it makes me wonder if shes frustrated with the time traveling and waiting for the guy to come back or annoyed at the fact that this guy she has met is from a different time (that has to be tough on anyone, if you think about it) or just very pensive about the whole ordeal and wishing for his return. As you can see, I have a lot of theories formed already and I want to know what is happening between the two characters and why they are set apart like that!! Aren't you curious, too? xD

  6. This sounds so awesome! I love The Time Travellers Wife, too, and this novel reminds me so much of it!

I love the whole concept of time travel with its changing era and the every present risk of altering the time-space continuum.

  18. YES!! Oh my goodness, Jen, I love stories about time travel too! Especially ones like The Time Traveler's Wife -- I watched the movie for that and I was so confused yet enamoured at the same! I find that a lot of time traveling stories are like that, but they're always so much fun that I don't really mind much! :)

Amazing pick for your WOW, Jen! <3
