Dreamcasting (3): From books to film

I am a very visual person and when I read a book I like to envision in my head what each book character would look like in actuality and who could play their roles if they ever adapted that particular book into a film.

What is a dreamcast? Well, it's the cast of actors that you think would be perfect to interpret a character on screen. Today I will dreamcast a popular book character and explain why I think the actor I chose for this dreamcast would be perfect for the role of said character.

Dreamcast for Valentine Morgenstern

Daniel Craig as Valentine Morgenstern from City of Bones

So Daniel Craig's latest role is that of the journalist Mikael Blomkvist in the "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" film but his most famous role is that of James Bond in the James Bond Franchise. As anyone who has seen Daniel as Bond in Casino Royale can attest to, Daniel has a very commanding yet stoic presence on film. He isn't necessarily chosen a lot to play the villain which is what Valentine is in the book City of Bones by Cassandra Clare but I think he would do an amazing job as one. Why? because I think he has a lot of strength to him as an actor when he isn't saying a word. Craig can easily dominate a scene with a glance, a slight change in posture. He has charisma but it is very subtle and a bit mischievous in nature and easily reflected through his eyes. And I think all of these traits are necessary for a such a machiavellic and intimidating villain as Valentine. Valentine is also a very intelligent villain and I think Craig definitely can convey that cold "know it all/above all/one step ahead of you" attitude that characterizes Valentine. Interestingly enough, City of Bones is actually a movie that is currently in production and will start to shoot in August of this year. Lily Collins has been cast as Clary Fray but I have not heard of any other castings. Definitely think Daniel would be a great Valentine, all that would be needed of him is a change of wardrobe and for him to dye his hair a white blond and grow a slight manicured beard and dye it white blond, too.
