Fated (Soul Seekers #1) by Alyson Noel
Release Date: May 22nd 2012
by St. Martin's Press
Format: Hardcover
Goodreads Summary:
The first book
in a magnificent new series about a girl who can navigate between the
worlds of the living and the dead by #1 New York Times bestselling
author Alyson Noël.
Lately strange things have been happening to Daire Santos. Animals follow her, crows mock her, and glowing people appear out of nowhere. Worried that Daire is having a nervous breakdown, her mother packs her off to stay in the dusty plains of Enchantment, New Mexico with a grandmother she’s never met.
There she crosses paths with Dace, a gorgeous guy with unearthly blue eyes who she’s encountered before...but only in her dreams. And she’ll get to know her grandmother—a woman who recognizes Daire’s bizarre episodes for what they are. A call to her true destiny as a Soul Seeker, one who can navigate between the worlds of the living and the dead. Her grandmother immediately begins teaching her to harness her powers—but it’s an art that must be mastered quickly. Because Dace’s brother is an evil shape-shifter who’s out to steal her powers. Now Daire must embrace her fate as a Soul Seeker and find out if Dace is one guy she’s meant to be with...or if he’s allied with the enemy she’s destined to destroy.

Reasons I want to read & own this book:
1. The cover. I love it. In all honesty --> 90% of the reason why I want to read this book is because of coverlove and I got it bad, you guys, I do. I have to keep it real on this one, haha. I think the purple/pink/light blue tones on this cover are stunning. This cover is like a piece of art to me. I love the earrings on the girl, her flowing hair in the wind looks pretty amazing and I love the birds who are fleeing from what seems like a deserted forest? - it all seems so mysterious, mystical but pretty, all at the same time. LOVES IT!
2. Soul seekers. It's a concept I have not heard of before so I'm curious about what it entails but it seems all very mystical and otherworldly and intriguing and those are always themes that I like in a book and it can't hurt that there is a gorgeous guy in this book, right? Just saying - I'm in!
What do you guys think? :)
Great pick! I am so excited for Fated it sounds great and I love the cover too! I also really enjoyed Alyson Noels Immortal's series so I am looking forward to reading more by her.

Waiting On Wednesday
Hey :) And you're welcome.
DeleteOMG. I know, right? I can't wait till Fated comes out, too!
I'm nervous about Fated. I was really disappointed with how her Immortals series went, but this looks so good!
ReplyDeleteCheck out my WOW?
Oh really? Bummer. I have not read her Immortal series so I can't say but I think Fated is gonna be awesome.
DeleteOh yes, this looks good. I am looking forward to this one too :)
ReplyDeleteMy WOW
Yay. Glad you liked it :)
DeleteLOL your number one is the same for me too!! x) 90% sounds about right for this book, and if I had to admit, for a few other books too because I love looking at the gorgeous covers! If you watch the Secret Circle TV show, I think that she looks a lot like the girl who plays Diana (if that's not too random)! :D And I haven't heard of Soul Seekers before either so I'm convinced this is going to be really cool!
ReplyDeleteAwesome pick for your WOW this week & awesome numbered list as always, Jennifer! :) <3 It's all spot-on!
Thank so much, Mimi <3 So glad you liked it :)
DeleteHaha *high five* for also having a weakness for gorgeous covers. Oh how they lure us in, LOL.
Interesting. I have watched The Secret Circle a couple of times and I think I know who you are talking about and it is so true. They have a resemblance.
I get coverlust all the time. Half my TBR pile is books that I know aren't my cup of tea, but that have gorgeous covers. I'm definitely a book hoarder.
ReplyDeletenew follower.
Same here, LOL. Glad to know I'm not alone in this, haha! And I love how you call it coverlust. I'm gonnna use that from now on :D
DeleteAnd yay, thanks for following :)
Use it! Let's make it a thing. :)
DeleteWill do ;)
DeleteOooh, I wonder if I'd like this one! I didn't love Noel's other series.. The one with the flowers.. Wait.. Nevermore? I read it in German, though, so that might have something to do with it. *g*
ReplyDeletePatricia // My WOW
I know which one you are talking about. The Immortal series, right? I think is what its called. I haven't read that one so I can't say but maybe you will like Fated. For me it would be my first Noel book, so I'm hoping it turns out great as it looks really good from what the summary says :)
DeleteI have actually not read anything by Alyson Noel yet, even though I know she is insanely popular but I am definitely planning on reading this one when it comes out-- this is also probably one of my favorite covers EVER!! :D Love the colors :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower by the way! ;)
