Showcase Sunday (14) - Stacking the Shelves (6)

Showcase Sunday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by Vicky at the Books, Biscuits and Tea blog. It is a meme inspired by Pop Culture Junkie and The Story Siren. The goal of this meme is for us bookish peeps to showcase & highlight the books that we have either bought, borrowed, won, downloaded, or received for review the past week :)

Stacking the Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga's Review to highlight the books us bloggers have gotten during the week, as well.

I like both memes, so I've decided to take part in both =)

BOUGHT

1. Entangled by Nikki Jefford - ebook

2. Fallenmore (Feathermore #2) by Lucy Swing - ebook

Sidenote: I definitely plan on getting both these books in paperback eventually because I love the covers and want to add both these books to my book collection. I cannot wait to read Entangled, it has been ages since I read a book about Witches, I have heard so many amazing things about this one and Nikki is awesome. So, yup, dying to read it.

And Fallenmore is a sequel I have been highly anticipating because Feathermore was a really great read for me. I loved the heroine's sense of humour. There was a lot of intrigue and mystery to it and it was easy to get lost into Lucy's writing.

What book loveliness did you receive this week? :)

Author Interview: Lucy Swing

Hey Guys,

I'd love to welcome you all to read my interview with author Lucy Swing as part of the blog tour for the release of her book Fallenmore - book #2 in the Feathermore series.

Thank you, Lucy, for taking the time to answer our questions here at Dream Reads.

 Goodreads Summary of Fallenmore:
When darkness consumes you; will it be hard to find the light?

After Jade's world was torn apart, she is unsure of where she belongs, if anywhere at all. Deceived by those she trusted the most, she must now accept her fate and the life that lays before her.
The voices are back but this time, they are trying to lure her into the darkness. But could they be telling her the truth? That the only person she has been able to trust since the death of her boyfriend, Avan, is lying to her too? If the voices are right... Could she really trust him?

In Fallenmore, the second book in the Feathermore Trilogy, Jade will embark in a quest through the pits of Hell. The question now is: once she is in, will they ever let her out?

And now for some Q&A/interview awesomeness with Lucy Swing:

1. Who or what inspired you to become a writer?
Stephenie Meyer and the Twilight saga. Yes, I know some of you will roll your eyes. But I thoroughly enjoyed them and loved how easy was to become Bella. Her writing is simple and the story line is fun and fresh.

2. What do you love the most about writing young adult novels?
Becoming a teenager for a while! It is always fun pretending you’re young again and getting to experience things from the Main characters point of view.

3. Do you have a favorite young adult genre?
I  enjoy the Paranormal Romance genre most.

4. Do you have any writers or books that inspire your work?
There are many. Every new book that I read inspires me in some way.

5. What has been the biggest lesson that you have learned as a self-published/indie author?
Oh my God! To back up my work! Losing Fallenmore when I was a mere 2 chapters away from being done was devastating!

6. What advice would you like to give to aspiring writers?
Write, write and, oh yeah, keep writing. The more you write the easier and better it will become.  Don’t give up when things get hard, this goes for everyone! B.I.C. (Butt in chair) always does the trick, too.

7. You often hear that a lot of authors have writing soundtracks  for each of their books. Is there any music that inspired the writing of Fallenmore?
There are definitely a lot of songs that I have played over and over while writing Fallenmore. Some of the songs are:
Within Temptation - “Somewhere”, “Memories” and “Our Farewell.”
30 seconds to Mars – “The Kill”
BarlowGirl – “I need you to love me” and “Never alone”

8. Which reading format do you prefer: Paperbacks, Hardcovers or  E-books?
Hardcovers and paperbacks for sure!

9. How was the book cover for Fallenmore conceptualized?
In Fallenmore there is a darker theme. I wanted the main character, Jade, to look like she was going into the unknown, glancing back at what she was leaving behind as shadows (in this case fog) wrapped around her. Najla Qamber did an amazing job at nailing it.

10. Do you have a motto that you like to live by?
I guess it would have to be “Don’t do to others what you wouldn’t want them to do to you”. I also believe and respect the “Everything happens for a reason” motto.

11. Are you reading anything at the moment?
I will be starting “Thirst No.1” by Christopher Pike

12. Which do you prefer reading: a series or a standalone novel?
Series. When I like a character I don’t want it to ever end.

13. Favorite movie based on a book?
The Notebook.

14. What is your favorite type of character to write: the hero or the villain, and why?
The villain. It is a way to experience something I never do. In my case, my villain is Lilith. A murderous demon that causes nothing but pain. Not that I want to do what she does or anything, but it is challenging trying to get into a mind like hers.

15. Favorite quote from a book?
I can’t say it is my favorite, but it is the one that I remember most.
"The corner of one side of his mouth curled up a bit, and he leaned in closer to me. For a moment I was afraid he might kiss me, and as my heart hammered in my chest, i realized that i was more afraid that he wouldn't." Amanda Hocking, Trylle Trilogy.

Thank you, Jennifer, It is a real pleasure to be hosted here today.
