Reasons I want to read & own this book:
1. The cover. Yes. I have a huge case of coverlove with this book. Guilty, lol. I can't help it. I love the mystique to it with the gothic house in the background, with turbulent waves clashing against the rocks in the island where the house seems to be, while the girl with the gorgeous blue dress (my fave color) is floating above it all. That dash of blue just stands out so much amongst all the somber gray/black tones on the cover and I think it's a stunning contrast.
2. The genre. This is a gothic novel and a retelling of an Edgar Allen Poe poem called Annabel Lee. Edgar Allan Poe retellings are quite popular in Young Adult literature now (Nevermore & Masque of the Red Death) and I am loving the trend. Edgar was brilliant and his writing was so haunting, yet beautiful. Love to see how writers interpret his work.
3. The male point of view. I think that in this book, if I am not mistaken, the story will be told from the male POV (point of view) which we YA addicts know is hard to come by in the Young Adult genre, so can't wait to read this!
