This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:
The Beautiful and the Cursed by Page Morgan
Release Date: May 14th 2013
by Delacorte Books
Format: Hardcover Goodreads Summary:
After a bizarre
accident, Ingrid Waverly is forced to leave London with her mother and
younger sister, Gabby, trading a world full of fancy dresses and society
events for the unfamiliar city of Paris.
In Paris there are no grand balls or glittering parties, and, disturbingly, the house Ingrid’s twin brother, Grayson, found for them isn’t a house at all. It’s an abandoned abbey, its roof lined with stone gargoyles that could almost be mistaken for living, breathing creatures.
And Grayson has gone missing.
No one seems to know of his whereabouts but Luc, a devastatingly handsome servant at their new home.
Ingrid is sure her twin isn’t dead—she can feel it deep in her soul—but she knows he’s in grave danger. It will be up to her and Gabby to navigate the twisted path to Grayson, a path that will lead Ingrid on a discovery of dark secrets and otherworldly truths. And she’ll learn that once they are uncovered, they can never again be buried.

Reasons I want to read & own this book:
1. The setting. PARIS. Gosh, I just love Paris as a setting for a book. It's such a fascinating city.
2. Gargoyle lore. I have never read a book that focuses solely on Gargoyle's so it should be interesting to see the author's take on them.
3. The genre. Young adult gothic/historical fiction/thriller. This book seems to have a bit of everything in it and I can't wait to read it.
What do you guys think? :)
Wow I love the cover! :) I must show this to my friend Glass, cause she loves Paris :) Great pick :)
ReplyDeleteI admit I'm curious about the take on Gargoyles, haven't had them in a book yet. But the summary just didn't hit me head on. Like the cover, though. I'll be waiting on your review on this before I pick it up, okay?
